Heart Failure Treatment
Even though heart failure is a chronic condition with no cure, effective treatments are available for all stages. In fact, the outlook for heart failure patients is more encouraging than ever before.
With successful treatment and management, a failing heart can become stronger and symptoms can improve. Patients can improve their quality of life and have hope for a healthier future.
Initially, physicians attempt to limit risk factors and treat the underlying cause of heart failure. For most people, heart failure treatment requires positive lifestyle changes and a balance of the right medications. In advanced cases, one or more of these therapies may be considered: cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), heart transplantion or a heart pump called a ventricular assist device (VAD) that helps maintain the pumping ability of the heart.
